Child's Shopping Basket.  This is a gorgeous natural, shopping basket, perfect for small shoppers. They make wonderful ethical gifts for little ones and fun Easter baskets for egg hunts.

Children will delight in filling their baskets with sweets and treasures, taking them out on shopping trips and role playing at home. 

These carry-handle market baskets come in three handy sizes and are produced in the Bolgatanga area of Ghana. All are made from veta vera grass which grows wild locally and is incredibly robust when woven - a stylish and sustainable alternative to plastic.

Most of the weavers who produce these woven basket bags are men, having been taught the art of basket weaving from their own mothers and fathers.  Most of these men are farmers first and foremost, but the dry seasons make it increasingly difficult to make a reliable income from the land. Basket weaving brings these people the opportunity to earn a flexible second income. 

If your basket arrives 'mishapen' this is because it arrived with us like that, and its a normal consequence of its transport journey. To reshapen, hold basket under cold running water for a few minutes. Then reshape basket. If you hold basket against yourself to help shape it, you may become very wet, so take care to avoid. Dry outside if weather is fine and dry, otherwise indoors over bath or shower unit (basket may drip, protect your bath/shower if needed).
