Kurt Schiffler was an entrepreneur with a deep interest in mathematics, science, art, music, and education. He founded the Dusyma Workshops in Germany in 1925, making musical instruments for nursery kindergartens. After visiting early years settings he was troubled by the unsuitable environments for the children. He decided to remedy this situation. Dusyma soon expanded its product range beyond musical instruments to include chairs, tables, and a selection of wooden play materials. The kindergarten equipment industry was born.
Kurt Schiffler was a talented inventor who created a ruler for drawing and measuring diameters and symmetry. The name Dusyma comes from the Germany words Durchmesser, Symmetrie & Masse (diameter, symmetry & dimension). His granddaughter Lulu is currently at the companies helm.
